Membership
Packer Membership
A Packer is defined as an entity or sole proprietorship that receives, stores, packs and ships commercial tree fruit and pays a handler fee to the WSDA. Packers are assessed $500 for the first 50,000 boxes then charged a per box fee above the initial 50,000 boxes. This assessment is reviewed and set by the Board of Directors annually; the per box fee is currently set at $.0129 per box (40# equivalent).
Marketer Membership
Marketers are defined as an entity or sole proprietorship that has a contractual arrangement with a Packer or a group of Growers to sell commercial tree fruit of the Packer or group of Growers. Marketers of their own as well as others fruit would be assessed $1500 per year for those selling less than 1 million boxes and $2500 for those at 1 million and over.
Grower Membership
Growers are offered a membership in the Washington State Tree Fruit Association at no additional charge if they send their fruit to a participating packing warehouse. The Grower membership includes the weekly growers bulletin, weekly shipment reports and monthly storage reports.
Associate Membership
Associate Members are other businesses who “support the aims and positions” of the Washington State tree fruit industry. Associate Members shall be any entity, sole proprietorship or individual in the state of Washington that is not a Grower, Packer or Marketer, that does business in or with the Washington tree fruit industry and meets other qualifications as determined by the Board of Directors. There are two types of Associate Memberships available.
Basic: Membership includes movement and storage information for annual dues of $500 per year.
Premium: Membership at $725 per year, membership includes weekly summary price information (the grower bulletin) via e-mail.
